11th edition of the Visegrad Summer School, coorganized by the CVEK, took place on July 1-14, 2012 in Cracow. This year Michal Vašečka lectured on "Crisis of a liberal democratic regime?".

Dr. Michal Vašečka lectured within a workshop of the International Institute of Political Science in Brno on "Civil society in a time of late modernity" on May 4, 2011. Workshop has been part of the IIPS conference Interests in a Czech politics.

First edition of the Summer School of Ethnic and Migration studies took place on July 19 - August 1, 2010 in Komárno. The Summer School is the most visible educational activity of the CVEK and it has been positivelly evaluated by all participants, lecturers, and donors.
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on the XVII. ISA Congress "Sociology on the Move" in Göteborg. The congress took place in July 12-18, 2010 and he delivered a paper within research committee RC 05 Racism, Nationalism, and Ethnic Relations "Quo Vadis, independent research of ethnicity? Influence of donors over research of ethnicity."

IOM Bratislava published the book of Dr. Michal Vašečka Attitudes of Slovak public toward foreigners and foreign migration in Slovakia. The book is a result of the quantitative representative study, focus groups, and semi-structured interviews conducted during the fall of 2009.

British Council organized a presentation of results of the research on political mobilization and radicalization of European youth on March 23, 2010. CVEK has been responsible for gathering and analyses of Slovak data and on the meeting represented by Dr. Michal Vašečka and Peter Hlohinec.
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on the first ECMI’s non-resident Senior Research Associate Network meeting that took place in Flensburg, Germany on 17-20 March 2010.
Dr. Michal Vašečka and Dr. Tove Malloy signed during the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding between CVEK and ECMI.

Dr. Michal Vašečka took part on the IOM conference Migration in the Slovak republic in 2009 and informed about results of the research "Attitudes of Slovak public toward migrants and foreign migration". Conference took place on December 17, 2009 at the Austria Trend Hotel in Bratislava.

Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on the conference Demos or Ethnos? Multi-ethnic societies as challenges to liberal democracy on November 20, 2009 in Hamburg and he delivered a presentation on "How to Overcome Historical Determinism in Slovakia".
CVEK is finishing collection of data and information within the OIM project Attitudes of the public toward migrants and foreign migration in the Slovak republic with special focus on integration and employment of migrants in the Slovak republic. Researchers from CVEK conducted a representative research of public opinion, 3 focus groups and 10 interviews with key policy makers. Research report will be presented on December 17, 2009 in Bratislava.
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on October 15 - 18, 2009 on the conference Central Europe 1989: Lessons and Legacies at the University of Kansas in Lawrence and he delivered a paper "From Ugly Duckling to Success Story? Critical Insight on the Transformation Process in Slovakia after 1989"
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on a prezentation of the book Pastoral Care for Roma and delivered a paper "Individualism of Roma religiosity as a chance for public policy". Prezentation took place on September 29, 2009 at the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak republic.

Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on July 27, 2009 on a discussion 500 Euro and back home over challenges of recent migration policies in the Czech republic. Discussion took place within a Summer Film School in Uherské Hradište.
8th edition of the Visegrad Summer School took place in Willa Decius, Cracow on June 28 - July 11, 2009. Summer school is coorganized by CVEK and this year Dr. Michal Vašečka lectured and run workshop on "Europeisation of civil society".
Dr. Michal Vašečka took part as a lecturer on the Summer School Current Security Challenges in Liptovský Mikuláš on July 1, 2009 and he lectured on "Extremism in the Era of Late Modernity. Response of Liberal Democratic Regime".
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on the international workshop of the Institute for Public Affairs Experience exchange of best practices of integration indicators. Worskop took place on June 26, 2009 and Michal Vašečka´s prezentation focused on "Indicators of integration in the EU. What do we measure, really?"
CVEK organized a workshop within the project Multiculturalism and Integration of New Minorities in Slovakia: Possibilities and Challenges on June 23, 2009.
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on IV. Galilee Colloquium on Social, Moral and Legal Philosophy dedicated to "Immigration, Asylum-seeking, and Citizenship: Entitlements, Individual Rights and Collective Identities". Colloquium took place on June 11 - 14, 2009 in Kibbutz Kfar Blum in Israel.
Dr. Michal Vašečka chaired a discussion commemorating 20th anniversary of free elections in Poland in 1989. Discussion took place at the Polish Institute in Bratislava.
Dr. Michal Vašečka participated on May 25-26, 2009 on an INED´s workshop "The Policy Use of Quantitative and Qualitative Indicators of Integration". Workshop took place in Paris and Dr. Vašečka spoke on "What influences quality of ethnicity research these days?"
Since April 2009, CVEK participates on the project "High quality research - precondition for a successful integration". Project runs under auspices of the Institute of Public Policy at the Faculty of Social and Economic Science, Comenius University and Dr. Michal Vašečka serves as a scientific guarantee of the project.

Since november 2008, CVEK undertakes a terrain research in order to collect data within research of political mobilization and radicalization of European youth (ESYM). ESYM is coordinated and methodologically backed by the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Project "Our Europe" of the Willa Decius and CVEK has been finalized on October 28, 2008 in Cracow by a whole-day cultural program. At the same time, inauguration of a new project "Antidiscrimination Training Academy" of the Willa Decius and CVEK has started on November 5, 2008.
Center for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture in co-operation with the Roma Education Fund, Budapest is carrying out an international research project "Roma and Special Education in Slovakia". Terain research took place in October 13 - 17, 2008.
Dr. Jarmila Lajčáková has participated on III. workshop on effective particpation of national minorities on decision-making processes on September 29-30, 2008, organized by the Fórum Institute and she discussed "Models of participation of minorities in Central Europe".
Dr. Michal Vašečka have participated on the international conference Light in Shadow - Czechoslovakia 1968 in Toronto, Canada on October 2 - 4, 2008 and presented a paper "Antisemitism and the Struggle for an Open Society: From Prague Spring to the Splitting of Czechoslovakia."

Dr. Michal Vašečka had a privilege to lecture at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne on April 7, 2008 on „Research of the ethnicity in Central European region - one of reasons behind integration policies failures?”.
Dr. Michal Vašečka has participated on the 13th Annual World Convention of the Association for the Study of Nationalities (ASN) "Nation, Identity, Conflict, and the State" at the Columbia University in New York in April 10 - 12, 2008. His paper "Citizenship Policies in Central Europe. Nation Uber Alles." has been well-received.

CVEK coorganized conference together with Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University and Department of Social Geography, Faculty of Science, Ostrava University.
